Devastating Update on Cargo Plane Accident: Death Toll Climbs to 13

The number of lives lost from the freight aircraft that caught fire and crashed has now reached 13, as confirmed by recent reports.

City Leader's Announcement

Traveling to the Workers’ vigil, I received word of a thirteenth victim that lost their life as a result of the plane crash,” wrote the municipal leader in a social media post. “My thoughts is with the relatives, friends and peers of all who were lost in this week’s tragedy. We will endure this as one.”

Victims Confirmed

A release from UPS named the flight crew operating the jet as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our hearts reach out to each employee who has been touched and all in our local region – helping you and ensuring you get the attention and resources you need is our main concern,” the firm’s message stated.

Investigation Updates

Government authorities disclosed that the freight aircraft’s left wing caught fire and an engine detached soon after takeoff from the aviation hub, leading to the jet to plummet and erupt into a fireball.

The National Transportation Safety Board has said it is examining the aircraft’s upkeep logs, that was in the state for repairs weeks before the incident.

Aviation information showed the aircraft was on the runway in that location from the start of last month to mid-October.

“We are aware that this aircraft was there in San Antonio,” said an NTSB member on later, not giving a precise period. “We will review every piece of maintenance that was done, even the Texas time, straight to the time of the journey.”

Findings of Critical Items

The cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder were recovered, and the engine was found on the airfield.

The devices – called black boxes – were built to survive collision damage and severe temperatures from blazes, and they looked to be intact when located among the wreckage. Authorities plan on reviewing data from the recorders.

Aircraft’s final flight details indicated an height of that level and a velocity of 210 miles per hour ahead of the impact.

Repair Background

According to aviation authority documents from 18 September, a fissure on a structural piece in the tank area needed maintenance.

Singapore-based ST Engineering, which said it offers airframe maintenance for the carrier’s MD-11 and manages a repair facility in that city, declined to comment, but stated it would work closely when investigators reached out it.

Operations Resume

Meanwhile, the hub activities resumed last night with its express or night sort operation, representative Jim Mayer confirmed. The three runways at the airport were additionally reopened.

The UPS package handling facility in this location is the organization’s biggest. The center employs in excess of a large number of individuals in the locality, manages 300 flights per day and processes over a huge volume of parcels an hour.

Public Response

A gathering was organized on the evening of 6 November by the area worker’s group, which acts for staff at the airfield, the company’s primary shipping facility.

Teamsters Local 89, which represents staff, started the memorial with a moment of silence at the evening hour, the estimated hour of the incident two days earlier.

“This event was so unexpected, so unexpected,” the mayor spoke to the crowd of two hundred. “No one had a opportunity to bid farewell to any of those who we have said farewell to.”
